  Texas Governor's Committee on People with Disabilities

  As provided in state law, The Committee on People with Disabilities mission is to further opportunities for persons with disabilities to enjoy full and equal access to lives of independence, productivity and self-determination. The Governor's office publishes resources on its website to assist in the creation of accessible digital content. Below you find a brief video designed to help convey the understanding of Texas Accessibility Standards as defined by Texas statute, followed by several hyperlinks to accessibility-related training and tutorials on various topics.

  Access Academy, provided by Level Access, is available to UH System faculty and staff to provide the digital accessibility knowledge. Course offerings include a range of subjects from "Introduction to Digital Accessibility" to "Getting Started with Inclusive Design" to "Authoring a VPAT" and more!

  LinkedIn Learning is an online education platform offering video courses taught by industry experts in software, creative development and business skills. LinkedIn Learning offers a customized learning experience that features instructional content relevant to your professional interests and goals. Employees at UH System components have unlimited access to more than 5,000 video tutorials covering business, creative and technology topics.

  To access LinkedIn Learning videos:

  UH employees

  • Login to UH LinkedIn Learning through the "Access UH" portal using your CougarNet ID and password, then
  • Set up your LinkedIn Learning employee account (you are not required to have or connect to a personal LinkedIn account to activate it), and
  • Explore for courses and videos you are interested in viewing.

  • Login to UHCL's custom LinkedIn Learning page using your UHCL credentials (same as desktop login) and click “Sign In.”

• Siteimprove Frontier LMS

  SiteImprove Frontier Learning Management System is available to designated UH community members such as web developers, trained web content contributors and EIR Accessibility Coordinators. Frontier customer education suite includes online courses, certifications, live coaching, and in-person seminars to deliver learning resources and opportunities for professional growth.

  To login to your account (after you confirm your access as a content manager):

  1. Login to the Siteimprove platform using your current username and password.
  2. Navigate to the “Help Center and Training” dropdown on the top menu bar.
  3. Select “Training & certifications”.
  4. You will then be automatically logged into SiteImprove Frontier via Single Sign-On (SSO).

• W3C Web and IT Accessibility Tutorials

  The World Wide Web Consortium (W3C) collection of tutorials shows how to develop web content that is accessible to people with disabilities and that provides a better user experience for everyone.

  The tutorials cover various accessibility topics based on common tasks in web projects, showing the user how to structure accessible content using a variety of web technologies including HTML, CSS, WAI-ARIA, MathML, and SVG. The concepts and techniques covered in the tutorials apply to other formats as well.
