Joshua Freed

Freed is a senior in the Honors College at the University of Houston, majoring in Political Science (B.A.) and Economics (B.S.) with minors in Phronesis, Chinese Studies, and Classics. He has competed nationally on the Speech and Debate Team, served as an executive in Student Government, and has been a Resident Assistant for three years. In addition to his extracurricular activities, Joshua has been awarded several research fellowships, through which he has studied natural law and the American founding, democratic political thought, Cold War rhetoric, Chinese politics, and political theology.
He is currently applying for PhD programs in Political Science, where he hopes to continue his interdisciplinary research in Political Theory. Eventually, Joshua hopes to work with the State Department and nonprofit organizations to expand legal representation, legal protections, and research in natural law in Western China. Joshua served June 1, 2016 until May 31, 2017.
