Dorothy Alcorn

Dorothy J. Alcorn was appointed to the UH System Board as the first Regent from Victoria in 1987 by Governor William Clements.

During her term which expired in 1993, she served as Chairman of the Facilities and Planning Committee and supervised the renovation of the Wortham House.She was involved in numerous University of Houston-Victoria projects including UHV’s 10th & 20th year anniversary planning committee, Chancellor’s Excellence Fund, Presidential Search Committees and UHV Margin for Excellence Fund.

Mrs. Alcorn received the University of Houston-Victoria Presidential Medal in 1994. She also served on the President’s Regional Advisory Board. Mrs. Alcorn holds a Bachelor of Arts (English/Education) from the University of Houston and a Master of Arts in Interdisciplinary Studies (English Literature/Creative Writing) from the University of Houston-Victoria.

Mrs. Alcorn resided in Victoria and was active in various civic and corporate boards.
