Paula Mendoza was appointed to the University of Houston System Board of Regents in 2013 by Governor Rick Perry and will serve through August 31, 2019. For fiscal year 2015-2016, she will serve as chair of the Academic and Student Success Committee and a member of the Audit and Compliance and the Facilities, Construction and Master Planning Committees.
Mendoza, a native Houstonian, is president and chief executive officer of Possible Missions, Inc., a company she established in 2001, specializing in Project Management Offices throughout all industries. The business has received the Houston Minority Business Council's 2012 Supplier of the Year Award and a Minority Business Enterprise (MBE) Accountability Award for its expenditures with fellow MBEs. The U.S. Small Business Administrator's Award of Excellence, also garnered in 2012, noted the firm's success as a sub-contractor to Federal prime contractors.
Mendoza is past chairman of the State of Texas Ethics Commission, past board member of the Texas Board of Public Accountants, and past chairman of the Texas Association of Mexican American Chamber of Commerce.
Mendoza earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Criminal Justice from the University of Houston Downtown and later completed continuing studies in both the Community Minority Business Advancement Program and the Rules of Engagement: A Leadership Institute provided by the University of Texas at Austin.
